NH and VT students in Grades 8-9 interested in science and technology will receive extensive academic, personal, and family support to assist in advancement towards a STEM career throughout high school including:
- Receive personalized college planning including seminars and one-on-one counseling
- Participate in standardized test tutoring
- Work with a dedicated mentoring team, including near-peers and professional scientists and engineers, to enable each participant the best pathways to colleges and STEM careers
- Attend scientific seminars from a diverse group of regional scientists
The students chosen as NHAS STEM Fellows will be part of a distinguished group will participate in research programs following the timeline:
- Summer 2023 – begin with a 1-week summer research orientation program
- Academic Year 2023-24 – involvement in authentic research either remotely or on-site at one of our participating laboratories in our after-school program
- Summer 2024 until high school graduation – conduct advanced physical science and engineering research during our 3-to-5-week summer Applied Scientific Research programs with flexibility to participate in our after-school programs
This multi-year program is offered at The Space On Main in partnership with the New Hampshire Academy of Science and supported by an Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teacher (ITEST) grant from the National Science Foundation.
